The day we got her we realized she had a lot of fleas, and the next day I woke up at 8 am and biked to the nearest pet shop to buy her some flea shampoo so that we could give her a bath. My mom and I have tried to make life for Akira the very best it can be. We love her very much and she seems to love us back.
Unfortunately Akira's spay surgery was botched, and she had many complications during her recovery. A mass started to grow on her side and we had to get her another surgery to take it out. She also had many complications recovering from that one, her stitches all came loose, she refused to eat and drink and at one point we were told she had 48 hours left to live if we didn't do something about it. At that point she weighed one kilogram. We started feeding her with a syringe until she slowly got better and the wound on her side started closing by itself. It was very tough. but she persevered and got so much better. Her wound is fully closed now, it's like it was never there. She's perfectly chumby again (3.6 kilograms AKA healthy weight!) and back on her rambunctious behavior.Some of Akira's favorite things include: Sitting on egg cartons, chasing bugs, biting ankles, ground beef, this yellow plastic crate we have in our garage, sleeping in my mom's bed, her little cat plush, getting scritches behind her ears, climbing, and rugs. A fact about her is that she doesn't like men. Maybe it's because she doesn't see many on her daily life, but when there's a man visiting she runs off. She doesn't do that with women visits. (The only exception is my uncle, she really likes him.)
Akira also seems to like BTS. My mom really likes them, so she plays their songs and videos on the TV. Akira seems drawn to them because she will just keep staring. My mom says Akira's favorite BTS boy is RM. I don't really know how she knows that, but it's funny, so I'll believe it. Akira doesn't seem to like my music as much. She's a very funny cat. She has a fun personality.
May-August 2023 update: Akira has a friend now, the neighbors' siamese cat.
He comes by our house every day and Akira likes to bap him on the head. Sometimes they're friends who jump around in the garden together but other times Akira hits him :( oh well cats are like that sometimes. So we keep her away from him now.
The neighbors' cat makes me sad, because the kids in that house seem to love him but the parents don't seem to care. They let him roam around the neighborhood and don't seem to give him food because he's very skinny. If we could, my mom and I would adopt him but we don't want the neighbors to stir up trouble bc they're very annoying. So we give him food and water.
