Welcome to my sewing page! This is a relatively new hobby for me. In 2023 I took a sewing and patternmaking class, and I decided to make this page to catalog my progress and show off the clothes I've made.

Please keep in mind that I'm a beginner and I have very bad fine motor skills so the pieces shown here may look sloppy to more experienced people. Cut me some slack.

this is my sewing machine! It's a Singer MX231. It makes buttonholes in one step!! isn't that awesome?
The first piece I finished was this simple skirt, which was the first thing they taught us to make in the sewing class. I made the pattern using my measurements. The skirt is made out of gabardine in this really nice color. I haven't worn it yet because I have to fix an issue with the hemline, and also because I haven't worn skirts since I was a kid and it makes me nervous.

The picture shown is the back of the skirt since it has more going on than the front. I really like the button I used for this, it kind of looks like a flower.
Next up is this shirt. Apologies for the awful pic, my camera kind of sucks. It was the second piece from the sewing class, and therefore I also made the pattern myself with my measurements. I really like how it turned out. It's made out of poplin and I really like the red color I picked. I chose red because I don't own any other red shirts.

So far this has been one of my most successful sewing projects. Which is kind of a bummer because it's got a bunch of wonky things, but I guess it's very good for my second sewing project. And again my hand-eye coordination is ass so I guess it could've been worse.
These pants were the first sewing project I started, I think I cut them out back in march or so, but I abandoned them until recently when I started the class. They're made out of this stretchy gabardine-like fabric. They are ridiculously comfortable. They're not made with a pattern, instead I just grabbed a pair of pants I already owned and traced them onto the fabric.

These pants have no pockets but I'd like to add some at some point. The waistband is kinda wonky but other than that these pants have also been a success. I have a lot of leftover fabric from this, so I think I will also make myself a pair of shorts since I've gotten better at sewing and I can draft patterns now.
I call this the disaster shirt because everything that could've gone wrong with this went wrong. One of the sleeves is slightly longer than the other. The collar is A MESS. I didn't take close-up pics but trust me it is. I ran out of fabric so I couldn't make a new one. It also recently came off so I have to sew it up again. I put one of the buttonholes in the wrong place and while I thankfully hadn't ripped it open yet I had to carefully take out all the thread from that. You know how tedious that is?

Anyway. It's made out of rayon which is one of my favorite fabrics for shirts. I love the base color and the flower pattern is great too.
These were the pants I made at my sewing class, so they look better than the first ones I made because they're custom made with my measurements. They're made out of denim, which I thought would be very intimidating to work with because of its rigidness but I found out it's been my favorite fabric to work with so far for that same reason. They have no pockets, but I plan to add some in the back at a later date.

This was my first time using a twin needle and I honestly found it very fun and the final outcome of the stitch is just so pretty.

Ok I know this picture is different and it's of me wearing it instead of just the garment, but I've been so tired lately I didn't feel like getting a new picture, so you'll have to forgive me for the inconsistency here. Anyway! This is my final piece for my sewing class, everything else I made was for the basic section of the course, for the advanced portion we could do whatever we wanted, so I made this denim jumpsuit. The upper part has princess seams and the pants are bellbottoms. I made it sleeveless because that way I can combine it with undershirts and sweaters and stuff. It was an ordeal to put together. I made some mistakes that I hope to correct at a later date, so I may have to separate some parts and join them again. I also learned how to make front pockets! They were a success.

There was a casualty though... I'm very sad to announce that I bent my twin needle during the process. I have to go buy another one soon.....

I made these shorts out of the leftover fabric from the jumpsuit and the jeans. They're a bit wonky but I'd say this is my cleanest work yet. I made them more boxy and rectangular and I made the pockets really deep so I can store lots of things. These are great for when I feel like dressing masculine, and the color block design is fun to me. The stitching details are made with opposite color thread, what I mean is that for the dark bits I used blue thread and for the blue bits I used black thread so it would pop and look cool. Not much to say about them tbh, but they're extremeky comfy and I'm proud of the result and the fact that I was able to use up all the leftover fabric.

I made a third (fourth?) pair of pants, because I hate making shirts. I like making pants. they're made of drill fabric and honestly it's comfier than I thought! I love the green color. I used olive green thread for the little stitching details. The stitching is again messy but that's okay. I made these inspired by a pair of olive green pants I got secondhand, so that's why they're green. Also, I LOVE DARK GREEN! AND OLIVE GREEN! GREEN!!!!!!!!

Ok anyway. I think taking pictures of me wearing the stuff is nicer looking than just putting the pants on the ground and taking a pic? I will try to update the older pics at some point hehe.

I made this skirt out of a fabric my local fabric store labeled as "Zeus" but I have no idea if it's a standardized name or if my fabric store made it up. Anyway, this is a midi skirt, it goes down to my calves. It has a slit on the right side, longer skirts have to be a little bit racy, because where I live, if you're under the age of 50 and wear any skirt that goes below your knees people will automatically assume you're in a cult. Plus slits are cool. I'm probably gonna wear this with mostly crop tops or rock/metal band shirts LOL. Anyway! I love it regardless, it's sooooo comfy, it has an invisible zipper and the fabric is just so soft and nice. This will probably get me to wear more skirts.

A while ago I went fabric shopping again and spotted this gorgeous striped denim and I immediately knew I had to buy it. It's thick and high quality, which I appreciate. I made these pants with a bit of a flare and trying to align all the parts perfectly so that the stripes didn't look all silly was a task but I accomplished it well enough. I actually appreciated the vertical stripes a whole lot because lining everything up and making straight lines was easier than it usually is on a normal fabric. They're so comfortable and I'm honestly so excited to wear these out at some point. Probably next time I go outside.

I bought this plaid fabric at the same time as the striped denim. I decided to make a shirt with it, this time long-sleeved, mostly so I could wear it over graphic tees. I did make buttons for it though! Anyway, I just wanna say I'm very proud of myself for this, because the collar only took me two tries to get right!! YEAH!!! And it looks so good! But yeah, not much to say about it, I'm so happy with how it turned out!
