Beach Harbor is my Slice of Life OC world which is inspired by my memories of the late 2000s, Teen Drama shows, the sad gray beaches of the northern United States (I live in the Caribbean and I feel sorry for you USAmericans), and most importantly, The Sims 2, which is where this whole universe even originated in the first place. The story centers around the lives of a handful of people who live in the fictional coastal town of Beach Harbor, Maine, starting in the fall of 2008 and ending around early 2010.
There's not much of a plot at this moment because I'll be honest with you, I'm bad at writing. But that's probably obvious if you've been on my website for longer than ten seconds. And I'm even worse at writing fiction. However there are some important key plot points, most of which unfolded in my Sims 2 playthrough, or I made them up after the fact as I got more acquainted with these characters and started developing more in my head, because let's face it, The Sims is limited and can't properly display the full nuances of life. Who would've thought?
But anyway, Beach Harbor mostly centers around two groups of teenagers which sometimes overlap. Storyline 1, for lack of a better name, centers around a trio of Runaway Teens who are new in town and become acquainted with another trio of teens who want to start a Heavy Metal Band, and from there what unfolds is an exploration of their interpersonal relationships, the trials and tribulations of band life, and my favorite: tragic lesbian drama.
Storyline 2 is a more classic Teen Drama type ensemble, which mostly centers around a loser teenage boy, his friends, acquaintances and crushes. And his lesbian mom who is dating his teacher. This is just a pure slice of life, interpersonal-drama-driven story where the relationship aspect is not nearly as tragic. It's just loser teens (and the popular kids they're trying to impress) getting up to shenanigans, but it's still an awesome great time. And as I said, these two storylines overlap a lot. It'll be more obvious if you keep reading.
In my head, Beach Harbor is a shitty late 2000s drama TV show that was wildly ahead of its time and got cancelled after three seasons and is now regarded as a cult classic not many people know about, and the full series DVD box sets now sell used on eBay for hundreds of dollars and barely anyone in the general public remembers it, but it has a weirdly sizeable fandom on Tumblr, where users endlessly debate about character arcs, wasted story potential and whether or not I'm a queerbaiter. Is it weird that I get a kick out of imagining the toxic fandom discourse this would originate on social media if it was a real show? I just think it's really funny.
You may be asking yourself "What's with the TVTropes layout?" I just thought it would be a really awesome and cool idea to make a fake TVTropes page for my OCs. You can't tell me that it isn't. I plan to do this for my other OC worlds. I made this layout from scratch. LMK if you want it for your own website! (ONLY WHEN IT'S FINISHED PLS)
Lastly, while not originally conceived as such, my 90s Bandverse is kind of a spin-off prequel to Beach Harbor, with a few of the characters having direct ties to the BH teens in some form or another, but it's still a standalone story. Some of the characters just happen to carry over to Beach Harbor. Check it out too if you want. WELL, IF I EVER START THOSE PAGES THAT IS.
(I know character pages are completely separate in the real TVtropes, but this is not TVtropes. This is eatsteas.) The characters are separated by group.
